EIGRP LAB


1) Use the router eigrp as-number in the global configuration mode to enter in the eigrp configuration mode.The As no can be any number from 1 to 65,535.

Example : router (config)#router eigrp 1


2)Next we have to type network <ip address > <wildcard mask>. This command enables eigrp on the interfaces whose ip address falls in the network range mention in the network command.If the wildcard mask is not mentioned then the router will consider it as the classfull network(like class A, Class B and class C)

Example : router(config-router) # network¬† 10.0.0.0 —-> classfull network (without wildcard mask)

 

Example: router(config-router)#network 10.0.0.0 0.0.0.255—> with wildcard mask

With the above two basic steps the eigrp will be enabled on the router interfaces. There are more options which we can use depending on our requirement.If we don’t mention these additional options, the router will assume the default values for them.The other options are discussed below.

3)we can use the command eigrp router-id <value> router subcommand to configure the router ID (RID) value.

4)we can use the ip hello-interval eigrp <asn time> and ip hold-time eigrp <asn time> interface subcommands to change the hello and hold timers on the interface.

5)we can use the bandwidth <value> and delay <value> commands on the interface to change the bandwidth and delay which will result in change in the eigrp metric calculations.

6)we can use the maximum-paths <no> command and variance <multiplier> commands to configure support for mutiple equal cost routes.

7) we can use the auto-summary router command to enable automatic summarization of routes.
